We’re thrilled to share the latest advancements from the ALEHOOP project, which has achieved significant milestones in sustainable protein research after four years of dedicated effort.
Here are some of the recent highlights:
- New focus on red seaweed and improved lupin extraction: We’ve successfully resolved previous issues with bitterness in lupin protein samples, enabling successful trials in cereal bars, shakes, and meat replacers.
- Progress in integrating macroalgae proteins into animal feed: Optimal approaches have been identified for incorporating seaweed-derived proteins into animal diets, with enhanced nutritional benefits from lupin also being highlighted.
- Consumer tests and innovative products: In August 2024, we’ll begin consumer tests on high-protein, nutrient-rich products derived from algae and legumes, including meat analogues, meal replacement shakes, high-calorie instant potato puree, and healthy snacks.
- Regulatory compliance and market access: We’ve confirmed that our protein extracts meet stringent safety standards, including pathogen absence and heavy metal concentrations below Codex Alimentarius limits.
