The I Innovation Forum of the Galician Cluster of Environmental Solutions and Circular Economy VIRATEC took place last October the 18th, focusing on the progress in sustainable innovation to mitigate climate change. This meeting was attended by academics from Spanish universities and representatives of renowned companies, who addressed environmental challenges, mainly in the field of water and organic waste, highlighting the role of innovation in industry.
During the celebration of this Forum, the first edition of the ‘Viratec Awards’ also took place, which recognised the three best innovation and research initiatives developed during the years 2023 and 2024 by the entities associated to the Cluster, that have proposed environmental solutions in the framework of the circular economy oriented towards the development of new products, services or processes. The winners were: Viaqua, in the Large/Medium Company category, with its project ‘Transforming wastewater treatment plants into ecofactories: towards circularity in the integral water cycle’; Wim Studio, in the Small Company category, with ‘Recycled Textile Stone’; and Cretus, in the Knowledge Centres category, with ‘Pretenac’.
We are proud to share that in the category of knowledge centres, the candidacy presented by our partners from ANFACO for the ALEHOOP project was a finalist.
